Maiden, Mother, Crone

This article is a friend to my podcast episode, “Investigate your mother wound, find your inner crone.” It is an investigation of the extraordinary meridian, The Ren Mai (aka the channel of bonding), and the archetypes of Maiden, Mother & Crone.

The work that went into this episode went beyond what I anticipated. Why? Because describing archetypes and wounds inevitably will have you looking inward (particularly with my chart placements lol). Go and have a listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts if you haven’t already.

Here you will find the exercises and acupressure points that I recommend to use as you explore these concepts.

The Journal Prompts

  • How do you allow the maiden, mother, crone to all live inside yourself?

  • How do modern times impact how we can sit with each part?

  • To empower the phase I’m in I…

  • How do I show up for myself and how do I allow others to care for me?

  • How do I care for others?

  • What emotion comes to mind when I think of my mother?

  • What did I need and how can I facilitate that for myself now.

The Acupressure Points

LU7 - Broken Sequence

The opening point of the Ren Mai.

Find it on your LEFT wrist by running the thumb on your right hand over the wrist bone - from the base of your thumb in the direction of the elbow. Either press for 30 seconds (minimum) or vibrate.

Ren 15 - Turtledove Tail

Named for the position it sits within between the ribs, beneath the sternum. Find the join where the ribs meet and drop an inch below. This point opens the chest, calms the shen and nourishes ALL yin.

Yin Tang - Hall of Impression

Smack bang between the eyebrows. When my son was born, I so naturally rubbed this point gently on him in his early days. It is deeply calming and brings clear Yin to the mind.
